External Filters

Hi all
just wondering , got a rio 180 and want an external for it. was thinking of going marine or mbuna . been advised to go for one with about 1200 l per hour flow. Is this correct ? plus seen some on ebay ( new ) ie aps.
Are these filters ok ? or should i stick with the well known ones ie tetric etc
just trying to save a little money as on a budget.

ps also got a u4 internal that can go in tank so is that flow rate ok

If by APS you mean all pond solutions, all the people i read talking about them say that it does the job but quality\efficiency don't come close to the known ones.
But i do have a lighting system from them and i'm extremely happy with it with quality and efficiency,so maybe they are not that bad. Wait untill someone that really uses this one can give you better info on the filter.

Stay away from APS ones there not worth money anymore. Not to say their bad filters but for £85 you can buy a brand new Tetra tec 1200 which is a million times better then APS.

APS 2000 Aprrox (900LPH) flow Tetratec 1200 (890LPH) both with media in. The build is night and day on these

i payed £66 for my 305 from MA they priced mached to one i found on the net

I have 3 Tetratecs and 1 APS the aps lasted 6 months before showing stress. If you can find a filter near you at a good price i dont see why you should buy new second hand is fine, just make sure you dont get knocked some people people are in cuckoo land with second hand prices

will keep an eye out not in a hurry tank not running yet , want to get all stuff first .
