Given my 305 is now getting me annoyed at it (almost impossible to prime short of sucking on the hose...) can people recommend a suitable filter for a 270l corner tank... overfiltered if possible.

Currently thinking of Eheim Classic 2217 or one of the Tetratec External EX1200 (the extra 200l per hour is something I wouldn't mind)...

tetratec EX700 or tetratecEX1200
both have push button priming and are very comparable with eheims

1200 it is then - the 600 is abit short on lph for my tank :)

Thanks.

Just out of curiousity, why are you having to prime the Fluval? I've had mine running for 2 years now and have only had to re-prime one of them once and that was because one of the intake lines got a hole in it and wasn't working right. When I do a cleaning on my 305s, I simply refill the filter with clean, dechlorinated water and reconnect, no priming necessary.

Hm, I didn't know you could just refill it... when I clean my 305 I flip the stop valve, remove the aquastop thingy, take filter outside, dismantle and rinse the pads in the water in the filter, empty water down nearest drain, reassemble. Its when I reconnect the pipes I have problems - I find the intake pipe doesn't seem to refill the filter very well so priming it is the only option- only problem is with the primer being slighly warped it doesn't seal correctly so fails to work resulting in the mouth over end of hose and suck ;)

I did notice today interestingly my output pipe when I turned the valves back on over a bucket had A LOT faster flow than the inlet hose....

make sure that the filter is below the tank when you are trying to prime it. It uses gravity priming along with the aid of the prime button. Make sure that the canister is full when you try to prime.

I have a 204 & 404 and always fill them with clean dechlorinated water before hooking them back up, never had a problem restarting them.

deffo get the tetratec EX1200

brilliant filter and easy to prime - good flowrate of 1200 l/h

thanks
