Hi all,

with regard to external filters, do they operate on high pressure?

reason being my new tank's lid has holes at the back for cables / pipes but with it only being a 45L tank, the holes arent huge and i dont think the pipes on my fluval would fit

so can you change the pipes or would they leak??

worst case scenario iv got a complete spare hood unit with built in light free of charge so was thinking of using a hacksaw and cutting a 4 inch square out of it to fit both the intake and output but ideally id rather just make them fit without cutting my hood to bits lol

cheers for any help in advance

with my tank i just cut 2 of the wholes in the back of the hood a little bigger :good: i dont think they work on high pressure as its only pumping the water up. its syphoned down. you could try it although it might leak

You can use reducers to join the thicker pipes to thinner pipes so they fit your tank, it may reduce the flow rate but as long as you use the correct size reducers and clamps you should not have any leaks. But you may have issues trying to fit the thinner pipes on to the end of your spray bar and pickup pipe, because they would be designed to connect on the end of the thicker pipes.
