Exchanging New Filter Contents For Old

My filter / pump is brand new

Would it be worth me getting hold f some old insides / filter material and putting it inside mine to help with the cycle?

My girlfriend is getting a complete second hand set up this weekend which I'm guessing the pump will already have the bacteria in it to cope with the ammonia

Yes! it will speed up the cycling but you will still need to test the water on a daily basis and do water changes until the bacteria catch up.

Ask who who wever is selling the takn if the mind keeping the filter wet (in bucket for example) then when you get home you can pop into your filter to speed thing sup. Keeping thr filter wet will the bacteria to live longer without food and oxygen

That would be wet in a bucket of the original tank water, not a buck of fresh tap water
