If he acting fine I would just keep a close eye on him for now, like you are doing.
If any changes get back to the board.

im really not understanding this....

he has gone 2 days with no slime and tonight he has a bit on his dorsal fin still no abnormal behaviour or obvious signs of anything else wrong.... its doing my head in
i really needed him out of this tank by now as i have new arrivals coming tomorrow and need the tank space

could be a stress reaction from being moved? my discus used to chuck out loads of slime if i had to take them out of the tank into temp accomodation for any reason. then once back "home" and calmed down they would stop producing it .

just a quick update on this catfish. ive had him for almost a month now and the slime is still sometimes showing but no where near as bad as it was the fish is still behaving normally and feeding very well and shows no signs of irritation or other obvious problems/issues. its currently in a quarentine tank along with 3 cichlids that have been in there for 2-3 weeks. all of the cichlids seem perfectly healthy and are ready to add to my main tank now along with the catfish as they have been in quarentine for a good length of time now without any issues.

have i just got a slimey fish? would you say that it was safe to add these fish to my main tank now?

i have not got any worries with the cichlids its just the catfish as sometimes it still has the slime......

I had some angels that seemed to constantly slime, it drove me nuts trying to figure out the problem I moved them to a different tank in the kitchen instead of the front room and it all dissapeared.

it seems to have calmed down since i introduced the other cichlids but its still there at times just in small amounts.....

maybe he was lonely

i think ill add then at the weekend
