I have to travel quite far to Maidenhead aquatics which has by far the best option of fish for me. Last week I took my brother up to buy him some stuff for his 20gal and obviously started browsing myself. I got some shrimp for my Livebearer tank a couple of of other things and a Jewell Cichlid for my 90gal (before my white spot outbreak). I asked for the fish and got distracted by my brother and said I would meet the sales person at the counter. I got to the counter with even more stuff and my final total was around £70. I didn't know how much exactly it was which turned out to be my problem. I got home and checked out the fish and it appears they have given me a pair of Jewels. They are juvenile at the moment but I know they will probably mate and cause problems? I actually quite like them now and would like to keep both if possible.

I have a Firemouth in there, they are all less than 2" and with my RTBS (same size roughly) they had been giving the Jewels a hard time, nothing major just chasing a bit. Anyway I added a 3rd filter to help with aeration and the jewels have made this spot their home. The Firemouth decided it was in the mood for a little bullying session and headed on over but this time the jewel decided to fight back (which I hoped would happen), anyway they were fighting away and along comes my Parrot (the boss) and just went right up to within cm's and followed them around intently, funniest thing ever (not the fighting, I'm not sick) It almost seemed as if it was making sure things didn't get out of hand, then once they stopped just sloped off to his own business. I know, I'm sad

Anyway I guess my question is this, will they be ok, I have tanks spare if anything goes wrong and the tank has lots of territories. Everything in my 90gal in my sig is no more than 3" besides the Parroy which is 4" at most and doesn't bully anything, just puts them in their place.

Thx, sorry for the ramble.

Jewel cichlids are quite crazy when they spawn.. Worse then convicts in my experience..

My jewels severly ''ruined'' other fish when they were spawning... The fish they beat up were never the same.. Had no color whatsoever, could barely swim, and were just in real bad shape. They lived for months too so I had to set up specific tanks for the gimps.

I would put them by themselves if possible.
