Well, another Eurovision has passed, and I think you'll agree that this year's was the best we've had in a long long time because countries are starting to take it less seriously which is great because it means we get some strange bands! (Finland for example!!).

Do, you think the best country won?? Personally I loved Latvia's entry. (Cosmos - I hear your heart)! It was cool! :D

I also thoguht we deserved to do better!

we thought the spanish (i think) entry duty free was hysterical, obviously lost something in translation. i liked the interactive bit, you could do sing-a-long :hyper: i bet my neighbours loved hearing us singing along

Yes, i think finland song was good and deserved to win, like abit of heavy metal.
As for are song it wasn't bad but nothing special.

Thought the Romanian song was the best by miles.Fantastic singer and a really catchy song.

The orcs blatently had to win... But I like... I can't remember the country, the one that went 'We are the Winners!'. That was so bad it was excellent. Spains lyrics were hilarious, as were the country's that said something about grass not growing. And that woman coming out of the piano was, um, interesting.

Well there are political reasons why most of the country's dont bother voting for us Brit's

Remember Britain's result in the Eurovision just after the War - NIL POINTS

Wonder Why??

err... by 'the War', are you referring to a certain devastating series of events around 1916? or some other, more recent one?

considering Eurovision is only 51 years old, I highly doubt that the Great war of 1914-1918 has a great deal of influence on our votes.

Eurovision is notorious for "family voting". All the former Yugoslavian countries vote for each other, the ex soviet countries vote for each other, Monaco always votes fro France. The Iberian peninsular usually votes for each other etc, etc.

Nah not that one, that war had a reason, unlike the most recent one that GB & TB being a pair of prize numpties lead us into

When I stated the above I should have added that the 'war with reason' I meant was WWII, in that war the reasons were clear & had to be dealt with (My mistake for not reading posts correctly)

WWI (or the Great War), there were sequences of events that spiralled out of control & the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand seems to have been a catalist for increased hostilities between nations that were historically suspisious/intolerant of each other without fuel being added to the fire, this was a war where one prementive move lead to another increased premtive move by the nations involved who were moving into place beind there respective allies & as the supporting nations (Russia, Germany, France UK, Japan, Italy etc) were unable/unwilling to with draw there support of there respective allies the Great War was born.

Well that is my knowledge of the subject exhausted & that wasnt even the war I meant.

As for the WAR I meant - I dont think we need to be rocket scientists to fiqure that one out, unfortunalty I am not sure if we are aloud to discuss it on this open forum

& in answer to the original question 'Eurovision 2006, Do you think the best won??' - I had skipped the channel looooong before then

but did see a clip of then on the news the following day - actually thought it was a Star Trek Convention :D

*shrug* over here, it is taught that Brits use "The War" refer to what the States call "WWI". however, since international songster competitions don't really strike me as "pre-1950", I was confused as to your reference :p
