I already asked this question in the hardware forum but since I'm going to be going to the pets store soon I thought I may get a quicker response here. anyway... Sorry for posting it here.. thanks.

I have a 40 gallon tank with 2 convicts, 8 cores, 1 RBN pleco and I'm wondering if just one Aqua Clear 50 (200 gal/hour) will be enough filtration? If not would 2 of them be better? Suggestions? Ideas?

That should be pretty good. Your tank will go through the filter 5 times an hour. Yeah, should be good.

i find if its filtering at least 4 times your good no less

A 50 should be fine but if you're worried or want to over filter (which I always try and do) you could get two or the 70 model. Two will cost more but if one of them breaks, or gets plugged, the other can still do the job.
