Endler's Setup

Im thinking of setting up a tank with just Endler's in it.

My plan is to use a spare 10g tank, an aquaclear mini filter, 50W heater and sand as substrate.

I want to make it heavily planted as well.

Is the tank big enough? What will I need for fry?

How many endlers can I keep in a 10g? They're small so I'd guess about 12 or so. Im not sure though.

Really can't say how many would fit in the 10g, but I have a TON in a 20g? I would start with a half dozen and just let them breed.

What to do with the fry??? I'm sure your LFS would trade for store credit or something. Just call around and ask. As for as what you NEED for fry....nothing but the plants. They are "normally" not canabalistic parents, although I'm sure it happens. I haven't trapped any of my females and have new fry pop up all the time. TINY little guys, too.

Make sure you cover the end of the filter inlet, I cut a small hold in a piece of filter foam (AC foam) and stuck it over the intake. That was AFTER one of my tiny endlers ended up in the filter. He was ok though.

endlers are pretty small and peaceful, id say 20 in a 10g, maybe a couple less

i wold say thats about right.... but thats if you dont want to keep any of the fry.... i justabout picked up a fue of those cool little fish tonight.

The better the water quality, the more young will survive! After adding a magnum filter to my 20 gallon (heavily planted) tank, many many more fish are thriving. Otherwise, the population seems to plateau.

Got 7 endlers(6 male 1 female)hope the female give birth to more female fry to balance by skewded up sex ratio ,i m not too sure why the last batch all three are male.Will take note on using a filter to ensure more young survive
