I recently bought 14 endlers they are about 8-9 weeks old and just starting to get their colors. Will they be breeding soon? When endlers breed to they do a show off type of swim for the females or do they just swim like that normally (they are swimming backwards zipping all around the tank and stopping cold and moving all their fins funny)

Depending on the conditions, they could start breeding around 8 weeks, but 16 is more realistic in an average aquarium. Add to that a +/-30 day gestation, and you should see a few fry around the 5 month mark.

They are actually 'ambush spawners', meaning when the female isn't paying attention, they sneak in some action. I know some married couples like that, but this isn't the place...

The males will always be chasing the females, so provide some visual barriers, or a mop, or lots of plants where the girls can get a break.

Otherwise, keep the water clean and they will do the rest.

Good luck,
/Kris

8 weeks old and just getting color? Mine color up anwhere between the 3rd and 4th week.

It takes ~3 months for them to reach sexual maturity.
