I'm expecting some endler young from some black bar endlers I got last weekend at an auction. I've never had endlers before and they where kinda a impulse buy. I'm wondering how big are the young when they are born? The two trios I got are still in quarintine. They are in with lots of other smaller fish. Some chili rasbora that are 1/2 inch, some GBR fry that are 1/3 inch, and a pair of clown killies that are 1.5 inches. Any idea if the young will survive on their own?

Their much the same as guppies if u have any experience with them.

The fry are about 3-4mm long and are are perfect bite size to almost every thing.

If you have plenty of plants and hiding places then i'm sure you get a couple surive as the fry have a great nack of suriving.

In an all endler tank, you will have high fry survival rates even with poor cover for the fry until they start to become crowded. When they start to get crowded, after just a few months in a reasonable sized tank, their population seems to stabilize. If you then remove most of the adults, you will have another population explosion until the tank looks crowded again. If you keep endlers with other fish, you will find that the other fish will control your population increase at virtually zero no matter how much cover there is. Endler fry are very small compared to most livebearers. At first they are only a few mm long but they grow quickly. Here are a couple of shots of tanks that are near equilibrium and as soon as a few fish get bigger they need to be sold or moved.

as above, .....

Here is a quick vid of my old guppies, just like endlers, they breed like mad... this tank has more or less no cover, and this is what happened within 3 months ish...
