Hi

In my 20 Gallon I have about 8 enlder fry in a breeding net to seperate them from the parents...after 3 weeks some are bigger than others, but as yet no gonopodiums or colours. Temperature is around 26C...regular feedings. At what stage am I likely to be able to sex them?? And how long will it take them to become sexually mature?? There doesnt seem to be much info floating around on the net about it....

Cheers

Turn your endler fry loose. The parents are not much threst to them if they are really endlers. I have a few hundred endlers in 3 different tanks and always have more fry than I can deal with easily. Th\ois is a picture of one tank near feeding time. As you can see, the adults are ignoring the fry and vice versa.

As far as the time it takes to become sexually mature, it takes mine about 8 weeks to get to the point where they will breed and another 23 days for the first drop. It takes about 4 to 6 months to get a fully developed male that you can actually tell how he looks. He will gladly start breeding before that stage is reached and will find some females willing to accommodate his desires.
