Ok here's the scoop. I started this hobby with a 10g which is now empty. My hubby doesnt want me to have both tanks up and running. He says its too much and I get carried away! :grr: How can 2 tanks be too much??? If it was up to me, I'd have tanks everywhere possible in the apartment!! If I do get to set it up...the keyword 'IF'...what should I put in it?? I appreciate your ideas.

i got a 10g for xmas then got hooked bought a 25 in feb and a 40 the other day ;)

SO it IS possible to get carried away (blasphemy!!)

i have two fancy dwarf gouramis in my ten gallon ;)

I agree with wuv.
Move some of your fishes to your 10 g from your 20 g.

Hubby will be happy - no "NEW" fish, fish will be happy not "SO MANY" fish, etc. etc.

Good stuff all around.
AND it won't cost you.
Much.

heh

OH.
and tell your hubby to relax.
I have 5 tanks - and I just started this a few months ago.
Granted, they're small tanks, but I'm even turning my coworkers into fish addicts. :fun:

how about a cory breeding tank? that will lessen the load on the 20 and They are really inexpensive

A female betta community can be difficult to pull of because some females can be just as aggressive or more aggressive than males.

Come to think of it...I've heard that before too, about the females being aggressive.

In a 10g? I think you'd be ok. As long as they have some space. I would say, find some that you like, then use it for making a collection. Buy three now (never go with 2, I hear they kill eachother), then everytime you go to an LFS, try to find a new one that you like ;)

Betta females just need to establish their pecking order.
Just like in high school, girls in tanks will determine who's the queen fish and the rest of the peons will then follow her around. It'll take them a little while to figure it out, and there will be bitchy tiffs, but they'll work it out and they probably won't kill each other, but there might be some minor wounds.

It's better to keep female bettas in an even number, not an odd.

If you buy three now, then one's gonna get picked on like crazy. They have to determine their pecking order.

Start with 4 if you can, but I wouldn't go over 6.

For a 10 g with female bettas you may want it to be planted...either that or make some caves with flower pots, wood, and rocks. You are gonna want to get 4 jars if you can't get them all at once, and slowly build up until you have 4. Introduce them ALL at the same time.

But seriously, move some fish from the 20 g there.

Good luck
