Hi everyone, to my surprise ive just noticed that the angel fish have laid eggs, weve had a pair for a while now but we have only ever hada generatoin of guppies in there so we dont know how to breed anything else.
The emergency is that they`ve laid them all on the heater, should it be turned down or off?
Can someone also give me a quick go on thier care?
I dont have time to look at the minute due to other stuff

Post this thread in the cichlid part of the forum will get plenty of help over there.

Thanks, i didnt know what kind of fish they were and which section they go into

Try new world cichlids section.
Usually you have to put a net over the filter to stop the eggs getting sucked in.
Also they need a constant flow of water over them to stop fungus growing on them.

Its been the first night and the eggs are still there this morning with the parents guarding them, thats a good sign isnt it?

It's a good sign that they're guarding them, but yeah they'll probably cook on the heater. The good news is they've bred, you may loose this batch, but chances are they'll breed again so you may have more luck with a subsequent brood. If you want to try and save these you could take the heater out and try and put the eggs into a separate hatchery or even a breeding net in the tank.

That said, where's about on the heater have they laid them, as only the bottom bit gets really hot, if it's somewhere near the top they may be ok.
