Down a dark hole... Down a dark hole... with an ow
Hi there,

Gotta type fats - *gasp*

Upon my weekly clean, i pull out my motor prop shaft in my filter and it snapped!.
Its the long white stick within the props in the motor/top half of filter....

I am now filterless untill tommorrow morning when i can get into the LFS b4 9am and replace the filter/shaft whatever to get it back working...

As we speak my bacteria colony is dying and i dont what to do!!!
Shall i rinse all the crud off and stand it in the tank? what shall i do?

ARRRRGGHHH!!!!

Help me please - sorry, this is made me sweat and im panicking, the tank has just stabilised and settled into maturity and i have kribs in there that are courting/getting ready to spawn...

Doh man, this cud not have happened at a worse time :-(

is it a cannister filter? if so, just keep the water that is in it there, leave the top off, and if there is room add an airstone. the bacteria should be ok. don't panic, i was without power for 30 hours and came through just fine. no rise in ammonia or nitrite, so, no loss of bacteria.

edited to add i didn't notice the subject, so yes it is a cannister. :S

Yea, it is a cannister filter.....

Man, you dont know how good that sounds.....

The filter is in pieces at the mo..... il add an air stone and let it sit on its own over night........, its not connected to the tank in any way..... but i guess that doesnt make much odds......
Hopefully the tank has enuff bacteria to deal with my fishies.....

Fag break - *gasp*

Amazing, what stars you are :/

Perhaps next time il get more of a response if i post a poll on what my favourite colour fish is...... clearly that is more important....

Thanks karrihug, i have the cannister media in my tank at the mo, as im not going to get a replacement until after work today.....
