took a trip to my nearest maidenhead aquatics today, had a nice long look around at everything :) what did catch my eye though was in one corner a small must have been about 40 litre tank planted with co2 injection, it looked perfect the plant layout was perfect and the taller growing plants formed a nice little conopy over the top of the water level, the tank was full of ember tetra's hiding in the little jungle, id only ever seen pics of them before, and i thought they were nice but seeing them in real life i realise the pics did not do them justice, i think they were only young as they were still quite small but there colour was fantastic deep red which contrasted brilliantly with the greens of the plants, i will definately have to get myself some of these fish after pay day :D they are amazing :) bit off topic but they also had a giant cube shaped tank that last time i visited used to have rays in it, this time it was full of giant vallis and a massive chunk of wood, looked brilliant it was also stocked with many different kind of rainbows, i especially liked the bosemani rainbows though, they have some great colours to them, anyway that is all, just a little story from my trip today :)

oo! and whilst i was there i also picked up a couple of bunches of vallis, thought id give it a go again now i have a dirt substrate and dose ferts, always liked it just never had any luck with it lets hope it goes well this time :) i brought a big bunch of some kind of purpley red plant think its a midground plant not sure of the name though

They're beautiful fish, I have some in my scape, other than Harlequins they're the only aquascape fish for me. :)

amazing tank ps3steveo, i quite like harlequins too :) i was wondering how the people working on the store had got their ember tetra's such a deep red colour they were almost like a solid red rather than having a partially see through body, just wondering whats the ph and hardness/softness of your tank :) id like to know what paramenters you keep your embers in :)?

and tizer i dont think i've ever seen purple harlequins, seen regular ones but never the purple ones :p
