I have a male pearl gourami who appears to be getting thinner and thinner before my eyes. There are no other symptoms or visable problems and he continues to eat and get excited at meal times but as each day goes he looks more emaciated and is now visibly struggling to swim effectively.

Does anyone recognise these symptoms and have a solution? I would really like to see him get through this if there is a med out there.

TT.

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph.

Losing weight can be many things from fish tb, internal parasites, bacterial, external parasites, old age, not feeding enough, fish isn't eating.

Does the fish show any of these signs.
Long stringy white poo or clear mucas poo.
Enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Sunken in belly.
Fish will look skinny or bloated.
Fish will sometimes swim on its side.
Bent spine.

Does the fish look pale or darker in colour.
Is the fish acting listless and lethagic.
Does the fish struggle to get off the top of bottom of the tank.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing, excess mucas, darting, erratic swimming, loboured breathing or gasping.

No mets as i'm waiting on a new testing kit to arrive (my current one was too old to be reliable.) Size of my tank and tankmates can be found in my sig.

Of the symptoms you mention only the bent spine rings true. It is able to swim but is clearly struggling.

All my other fish (apart from the Angel in my other post) are fine and show no signs of illness.

TT.

Going to read your other post aswell again. Keep to the same thread or it gets confusing.
It could be fish tb.
