I have or thought i had 2 males, they look male, well they have been digging a big hole one end of aquarium and keep other fish at bay ?
Now my convicts done this also and breed giving us plenty of fry so i was wondering have i got a female and male

Sounds like familar behaviour, my aureus do the same thing before they spawn. Keep an eye out for eggs.

tried to photo them but they move away and hide but will keep trying

hey i just have a small question about ellioti, i was curious at what size they hit sexual maturity as i have three and at the moment i have two dociles ones and one slightly bigger more aggressive one which i guess are males how can i tell them apart?

Well my aureus, relative of ellioti, spawned and are raising fry at 2.5", dont know if that helps or not.
