Looking at an Elite style 95 tank with all the gubbins and was wondering if anyone has experience of these tanks. I want it as a basic grow out tank for some fry, plus to stick the frogs and shimp into currently in a 35L, how are the lights for instance, hood annoying or anything anyone thinks about them please :)

i use the elite60 as seen in my sig, not much to complain about except the hood flap was easily knocked over and it made a loud noise, scaring the fish lol.
mine come with a sun-glo which i would reccomend replacing as it gives out a horrible yellow colour.

Minx - The tank your helping me cycle is the elite style 95, its a brilliant tank mate. I've had no problems with it :good:

THe lighting is good IMO, and the hood has one entrance on the front like most, the only downside to this is it will be abit of a squeeze when you aclimitize new fish in the bag, it will fit in but will be a bit of a squeeze. So like every tank, the Elite Style 95 has pro's and cons. Also the lid is abit weird when you close it down (the entrance lid) as you have to pull it towards you, put it down then push it back slightly.

But all around its a nice tank :good:

Hey hun i know its smaller but the tetra aqua-art 60 is a much much better tank, look wise and the hood is hinged and makes it far more accessable to maintain :)

Yeah, I've had the tetra aqua-art 60 and the hood is actually amazing! Two lid bits and then it hinges up all together which I thought was amazing!

i have heard the lighting in it is pretty dodgy, quite frequently the ballast burns out.

So fiddly hood, does it come off completely though, which would make life easier, its going on a counter top so not much space underneath, would need to take it off completely when trf fish about (which I do - alot )

Tetra aquaart's I know are pretty good tanks, just not large enough really :(

So long as the light works is fine by me, not planting it just wood etc in it.

yes, it ll lifts off.

Good, makes life easier.

Yeah in the tetra tanks my light broke aswell. The lid comes off completly fairly easy so it should be ok :good:

and IMO the light is fine for just a fry tank etc. I think it makes my sand stand out alot aswell :p

I have 2 elite tanks and i've found them pretty good :) in fact the ease of maintenance on my first Elite was what got me really hooked :D

I think the lids are much stronger than on the Juwel tank I have, which is so flimsy yet had a bigger price tag.

i think you have enuff tanks lady

I know I do, but thinking ahead, I want somewhere to move the aureus babies once they grow a bit, before the parents get annoyed with them when they spawn again. Technically I would still have the same amount of tanks, if I sold the 35L arc I wont need - technically I will more likely keep it though and just move it somewhere else

hmmmm, ill have to see it to believe it

ive seen these tanks in pets at home, and i like them, i was infact going to get one instead of my 200 roma,, glad i didnt now, but smart tanks none the less :) perfect for what you want it for
often see them on ebay too ;) maybe worth a saved search :)

I have the Tetra Aqua Art
Ive had my lights on for 10-12 hours a day and its lasted me 6 months so far. I thought the light burnt out but realised my mum unplugged the light plug.. haha
