I can't really see whether this halfmoon red dragon is an elephant ear (or also known as dumbo and big ear) guppy. The black pectoral fins is not a mark of the elephant ear guppies itself. For it can be any color and even translucent. For a lot of socalled elephant ear guppies through the retail, have smaller pectoral fins than a real elephant ear guppy must have to be called elelphant ear. A better picture of the pectoral fins could give more informnation whether this is a elephant ear guppy or not. But retail prefers to call those with smaller pectoral fins also elephant ears because that sounds more interesting and a better price for the retail as well.

my dumbo guppy can't find matching females so i cross with a red koi guppy . they have recently had fry it will be interesting to see if they produce the large pectoral fins

I've crossed these red platinum dumbo males with blond koi females. F2 showed males like the original fathers but with an orange nose. The koi gene is carried by the females dominantly. In the F3 you should already be able to pick out both male and female specimens that will show the colored nose.
