Ehiem 2214 External Filter

Morning all,

I've been offerd the above filter and wonderd if anybody had any experience with them. What are they like on a day to day basis, are the silent to run, do they give good results etc etc.

My 2215 is very quiet. Pretty easy upkeep as well. HOWEVER, I have mine on a 60 gallon tank and it was not enough filtration by itself despite the factory rating to 90 gallons. I added an HOB filter, an Aquaclear 70, and all is well. I've been told that the Eheim are great at biofiltering but not always at mechanical filtering. If you have it on a smaller tank it could well be fine as a single filter.
