Ehiem 2006 And Kuhli Loaches

im having a terrible problem with my little internal ehiem and kuhlis. this tank has been set up for around 4 months with a group of 8 kuhlis. now 3 times this week a kuhli has somehow got inside and caught around the little propellor thing inside, causing the pump to jam (and of course the kuhli has an excrutiating death)
ive turned the pump of now but dont have a spare. can anyone figure out how the kuhlis are getting in so i can somehow block it? i cant see any gaps big enough for a kuhli? this tank cant stay filterless for long so need a quick solution!

Try putting a stocking or tights over it except the outlet.

Wrap it in tights or a breeding trap net, even if its just for the time being. It will slow the flow but at least the filter will still be going.
