have been looking at these with a view to bying one, but i dont know enough about them, any one out there with for and against opinions, and also what size should i be looking at for rio 240 heavy planted, rainbow fish, have got tetratec ex1200 at present but i dont think its powerfull enough, any body?

Classic 2217, pretty good, although somewhat noisy for the first few weeks (I found anyway), can be difficult to get going, but otherwise good filters.

Personally if I were you, Id buy another TTex1200 and put one either end.

yeah, i`v thought about that but would mean i`d have to start cutting wider gaps at the top to accomodate it and i dont really want to start running 2 filters,so i thought a bigger filter is my best option,

Go with 2217, The only down side is the self priming requirement but as there are no fancy gadgets there is nothing that can go wrong,

I rate these filters highly and currently run one alongside a Rena XP4 on my 5ft tank, the eheim hasn't been touched in about 4 months and the flow rate is almost as good as when i set it up, Whilst the XP4 has clogged up and needed to be cleaned twice in the same period,

I have one. It's my first canister filter and I LOVE IT never had a problem with it I could not figure out.

Classic + comes with taps and media

Get rid of the tetratec before it starts leaking
