Hi all. When i have to clean my eheim classic 2215, i have to take it outside and open the inflow & outflow pipes to relive the pressure so i can take my lid off. Is it really supposed to have this much suction? Also priming is very hard as it doesnt have a lever or button etc. Takes me ages to ge the air out, sometimes i have to manually fill it. :shout:

anyone got any tips or ideas? Thanks, Aaron

turn off the inlet, then the outlet, then the motor.

to refill, connect the inlet & open tap to fill canister (open outlet valve to let air out)

when full, connect outlet pipe & good to go

thanks, that sounds great, it is second hand so it never came with any instructions. You've made my day :D

with regards to filling/ priming the cannister. I just open all the taps like you said but it never seems to do anything. Or do you mean detach the pipe from the main cannister completley?

Try draining the pipe that go's to the tank so the water has no back preasure.

This should allow you to creat a syphone to fill the canister, then reconect the inlet pipe to the want and it should go.

Ehiem are great filters but Pro 2 are much better
2026 and 2028's

for quality it is good. For ease of use it is terrible. It doesnt have a great flow rate either, it is for a 350l tank and only does somehthing like 700l/ph I prefer my fluval, that is for 200l and does 670l/ph

I assumed your tank was planted & with return below the surface.

If so then connecting both will do nothing as there is back pressure in the return to prevent the syphon from working properly. if the return is above the surface open it first to empty it & let the air out of the unit.

should not need to be cleaned that often, I used to work on about 6 months or so. turnover is not everything.

it is on my 180l cichlid tank, i expected with it being a filter for a larger tank that it would have a higher turnover thats all. I opened it for the first time in 3 months and it didnt look like it had even been switched on! Just checking as i wasnt sure though how it would cope as it was the first time i had used it.
