hello, im not new to the hobby but i am new to the site and not sure where to post my question. I have an eheim canister filter the professional II 2026 and i have had no problems for the four years i have been running it till now. I opened it up to change the media the other day and today my power went out and when the filter motor shut off water started pouring out from all sides of the canister from the seam around the top where the head lifts off.this never happened before so i took it apart again and everything looked ok so i started it back up again and tried shutting off the power to see if it would leak and sure enough it instantly started leaking lots of water. Anyone have any ideas or advice on what i could try?
thank in advance
Nick

should have bought an fx5 lol ....sits back and awaits the old fluval -v- eheim war to begin lol

Seal is mis-seated, or missing ! If it is still there, take it off and clean out the seating, then lube her up with a good smear of petroleum jelly (vasilene etc)

Has got to be the seal between the pump head and the cannister box as rooster says. With any cannister its important every several cleanings to take time out to clean the seal area and re-lube the rubber/silicone of the seal itself and examine it for damage. When you reseat the seal its important to do it carefully, making sure it is not off track and could get pinched.

With any cannister it is also wise to place it inside a larger rubbermaid box or plastic bucket to buy more time in an accident.

Yeah! as alread stated above, the sealing ring has either got trapped when your re-assembling the pump head to the cannister or its worn and needs replaced.

thanks alot for the help everyone, i tried the vasaline trick and it did help to atleast slow down the leak but i need a new seal. does anyone know where i can order replacement parts online? Also while im at it, someone told me that i need to buy new light tubes cuz they are four years old and the light spectrum is off and it could be causing algae growth. Is this accurate?
thanks again

The eheim web site is eheim.com - the US one has a parts ordering link in the upper left. For UK I think you click on the UK map (international dark blue part) and then choose EN for language. Then it has links for finding local dealers, which I suppose is the way to get parts. In the UK though, I think there are good dealers and web sites that carry eheim parts perhaps at discounts.
