Does anyone use eheim 2329 wet dry filters, or something similar? If so, you may be able to help with my query.

They normally take about a minute, give or take in between emptying and filling. I have noticed that both mine slowly take longer in between emptying and filling.

I did have a big problem with them a couple of weeks ago when they literally stopped working. After cleaning them properly, they seem to work really well. I noticed today that they are taking about two or three seconds longer in between filling and emptying then yesterday. This seems to be a trend, I'm just wondering whether it has something to do with all the waste that builds up inside the filters since I have two large Oscars.

If anybody has had experience with this, maybe you would like to give me your opinion on the situation.

I have a 2229 (same filter but no heater!) and when that slows down, it is simply due to blockages in the intake/pipework. try taking the pipes apart and giving them a good clean!
Also, have you changed the height of the filter? as this will affect how long it takes to fill. If the difference is only 3 or 4 seconds, I wouldn't worry about it!

Thanks for the reply. The filter was cleaned last Wednesday. It is now Wednesday but a week on and the filter is taking 20 seconds longer to empty and then fill, or vice versa. So you think that there is debris in the intake pipe?

It's possible. The only reason that I've seen mine slow up is because it has been blocked either on the inlet strainer or in the pipe itself. I also know that the fill/empty time varies according to how far it is from the water level to the filter itself, so if this has changed, then that may have caused the difference. Also different types filter media may cause a slow down in flow.

Neither the height, or the media has changed since I have had the filters, so we can rule that out. One of the inlet pipes happens to be positioned in the corner were two large clown Loaches, and a couple of syndondis catfish hangout all the time. Whether or not more waste happens to be going into that particular filter, I know not. The other filter is doing exactly the same thing, but not as fast.
