Hi all,

I have an Eheim 2217 currently setup and running but only with several blue course filter pads and one fine white pad.

I'm looking at buying some ceramic rings and substrat pro but have no idea how much i'll need. Any ideas?

Will that be enough?
Any improvements, suggestions or alternatives?

Yes, those are all fine media to use. I don't know what amounts will work for your trays but it never hurts to have some extra stored away. In my Eheim I like to cap a bottom tray of ceramic rings with a coarse blue sponge. Then I like to cap regular substrat trays with blue coarse or white medium sponges and then do some sort of pad (fine mechanical filtration) at the top (last in the water flow.)
