I thought I would post some pics of Holiday last November in Egypt. 90% of these pics were taken on the house reef....

I would highly recommend it! Oh and as I know you love Lion Fish Trod...I saw one that was blue & Red! and about 2ft in size!

Where did you stay Glidergirl, its been a long time since I went to Sharm (2002), its probably changed a hell of a lot since. We saw 2 lionfish off the coast of Hurghada last year too, they were huge, did not have the camera at the time though.

One thing I do notice, if you have been to Egypt, you have a pair of THE SHOES, really sexy arn't they.

Trod, you have to go, do the Nile cruise but instead of Hurghada do Sharm el Sheikh, Sharm has more character and better snorkelling and diving than Hurghada.

cracking pics.
out of interest what was the stripey eel like thing in one of the pics?

I think the eel was a Tiger snake eel or a banded snake eel. (I guess you meant the one that is hard to see on the floor and not the giant moray that jumped out on me!)

I stayed just outside shar near nabq bay in a hotel called Sea Club Resort. It does not have any other hotels near it which meant you had a private beach and reef! I snorkelled for about 4 hrs at least every day (apart from one day when I had motion sickness from the rolling waves the previous day!)
Oh and as for my sexy shoes...they were a must! I also got them from ebay before we went...i didnt want to waste any time looking for shoes!

Thats why I asked, we were out at Nabq Bay too but we stayed at Tropicana Grand Azure (It was much cheaper then than it is now, I am not Rich). It was when you said you took the photos from the jetty that made me think.

I bought my Sexy Shoes from the hotel, took 5 minutes and they were only £3.50 so did not waste any time. Sharm is so much better than Hurghada though, I had always wanted to try Hurghada but after seeing it last year, I will go to Sharm next time, no need to do the Nile cruise again, although I would visit Cairo again.

I think the only thing the same as it was when I went from seeing it on TV is the Sharm Panorama neon sign, took the photo from the shopping mall steps, always see it on TV travel shop.

I think that I might like to visit Egypt even more now.........

Seriously, really enjoyed the pics. reminded me of some diving photo's from the Maldives that a friend of mine took. It is so lovely, seeing fish in their natural habitat.

Yeah it really was lovely, even in november the temp was up near the 30's. As you can see in the pics we werent out that deep either to see loads of ish so even if you arent a confident swimmer you could still see them which is great for kids too!
We didnt find it that expensive to go...we got a last minute deal through monarch for £700 for 11 days All Inclusive (including transfers to the airport in the UK!)

When we went to sharm in 2002, we paid £460 each for 7 days All Inclusive, it was 2nd January that we went, the day Tony Blair flew back, absolute nightmare, the airport only had 2 sets of steps and we had to queue for 2 hrs to disembark the plane. The same hotel is now £842 ish for the same time of year for 7 days. We went with Thomas cook.

We did the 7 day Nile cruise aboard MS Lady Mary and then 7 days at Le Meridien Makadi Bay which is just south of Hurghada, in August / September last year for my 30th birthday. Whilst at Hurghada we flew to cairo for the day and whilst the cruise was in Aswan we flew to Abu Simbel. It was just over a grand each all inclusive and the trips were extra but it was a present off my mom and she came with us. We went with Monarch and flew Monarch plus in the premium cabin. It was one of those holidays that I will never forget. Oh and in Luxor it was 40 ish in the day, in Aswan it was in the 50's and at Hurghada it was in the top 30's. It was blooming hot, particularly the valley of the kings and Hatshepsuts temple.

We are going back to Turkey this year purely because of my mobility problems but we intend to go back to Sharm very soon, Andrew wants to do his PADI out there.
