I am a tad confused  I have seen posts talking about females being eggy and needing to be mated soon.
Does this happen to them all? Can you keep females without ever breeding them? What do you do if they do get eggy?
I ask as I saw some lovely females for sale in LFS today and am toying with the idea of keeping a few together.
They all had quite bad stress lines, so didn't look too pretty, but I presume these disappear if they are happy?

One of my girls had stress lines and now i cant even see them anymore. And ive only had her about 2 weeks.

Thanks, that's good to hear :)
Anyone know about the egginess?

They don't need to be bred, most females will just drop their eggs or absorb them. Though there is the possibility of them becoming egg bound -in this situation I would first put them into a breeder with a boy to try to get them to drop the eggs. Last ditch would be to mate them but remove the eggs afterwards so as not to be over-run with baby bettas! But this is not likely to happen.

Ah-that explains it! Thanks tibby :)
