some of my green terrorseggs are turning white.. bout 5 of the hundreds that are there, does this mean they are not fertilized?? she laid them yesterday., any hlp pls

white eggs are infertile and will not hatch, she will most likely eat the white ones to stop fungus from spreading.
its quite normal that all the eggs don't get fertilized

Some white eggs are to be expected, I have yet to have a spawn where there were not at least a few.

just leave them to it, its usaully always happens whites, they should pick them off when they notice, do not fuss around to much with them or tank, otherwise they might eat the whole lot, just observe and see what goes on :good:

Possibly, but i think it means they have caught fungus. Its really important to remove these asap, so they ones that might be fertile dont gain fungus either.

If the parents are taking care of the eggs don't bother them. Reaching in there to remove a few white eggs, which the parents themselves will do, almost guarantees the parents eating the eggs. GT's have been raising spawns longer than we have, trust their instincts with this.

The fungus you see is secondary to the bacteria you don't see. The parents know viable eggs from infertile eggs better than we ever will. If you remain aware of the bacteria you will have a better hatchout with any species. Clean, fresh water is a primary concern, and water changes are all that you really want to do with a new pair. You want to go as slow as possible with this, no quick movements, sneaking the siphon in at a point furthest from the spawn. The same goes for adding water back in, no dumping buckets, a slow stream far from the spawn.
