On average, how long does it take before the female is full of eggs and you let her out? I know to look for the bars and such, but how long has it taken YOUR females?

I've just put my female in a chimney and plan to take her out on thursday morning because I'm off then until tuesday, so plenty of time to keep watch.

I spent 2 weeks conditioning my female who actually just spawned today. She was really fat with eggs and in good condition. I didn't put her in the chimney until Saturday and then released her yesterday morning first thing.

Yeah, I've been conditioning them. Just put her in the chimney a couple of hours ago and plan to take her out on thursday morning. Wondered if this would be enough time for her to produce eggs?

Is she already looking bigger than normal? Mine already had quite a big belly before I put her in the chimney.

These were taken of my female the night before I put her in the chimney.

Yeah, that's exactly how fat my female looks, Netty.

Quick update before I go to bed.

The male has started on the bubble nest. Nothing that exciting yet, just a couple lines of bubbles but it's a start!

I'm gonna give the female a nice feast of glassworms before lights out.

I'm sure that I'll wake up to a large nest of bubbles.

As predicted, I woke up to a lovely bubble nest!

The female is a little fatter I think but it's so hard to tell.

Not a great pic but it shows my female in the chimney which is just a coke bottle with the top and bottom cut off. It means that they can see each other but the male can't get to her. It should encourage him to build his nest and get her ready to breed.

I don't actually use a chimney, I use a large floating plastic-breeding thing but just call it a chimney when posting about my spawn to avoid confusion. Works just as well.
