have lowered my tank temp to 25c as this will suit all my fish. it is on the published limits of a couple of species but still within parameters according to seriouslyfish.

You might want to check out a few more sources. If I remember correctly, seriously fish has always been ok, but not that great and some of their compatibility is way off the mark. I would recommend you look in few places and take the average (for example on all results on first page of google).

I keep my tiger barb tank at 27 with no ill effects...so far.
