Effects Of Rocks With Rust (aka Iron Oxide)

anyone know if rocks with rust (aka iron oxide) are harmful to fish and aquaria?

i'm planning to build another large structure out of terra cotta pots and two 4x12" slabs of multi-classic slate i got from home depot. some of the tiles have considerable amounts of rusty streaks running through them, so i was wondering if they're safe to add to my tank.

Without knowing what the streaks are exactly it's difficult to tell. But no I wouldn't add them or for that matter any rocks with streaks of rust, or flecks of metal etc etc...it aint worth the risk.

edited to add: if it is rust though, then definitely don't use it....it aint good for the fish at all.
