Eek Freaky Eye!

ok silly bugger here hasnt really been paying much attention to my small tank as the light broke and i couldnt really see what was going on with it, whilst trandfering the fish into the new tank i noticed my fish "gimpy" wasnt swimming properly like he had a swim bladder prob starting up agian. however after looking at him in the bag i put him in to transfer him into his new tank ive noticed his eye has gone huge swollen from the socket, just the one aswell, read up and it said that just one eye swelling can be a result of an injury, this could have been inflicted by my female who hes been harrasing for a while, however im not too sure what to do about it now any advice? i do have a spare tank but ive just transferred the filter media from it into the new tank as i had an electrical problem in it. so i could quarentine him but it wouldnt have a mature filter.

Sounds like popeye. If he's recovering from a swimbladder I would guess you have a bacterial problem in your tank. Hopefully a new, clean tank with mature filter will help things. What are your water stats?

erm the swim bladder was from ages ago, hes never been completly right since as it was really bad, secondary thing to a fungal problem he had, that was about febuary. I was going to keep him in the old tank as i just did a 50% water change on it and added that seachem prime into it, aswell as melafix. does that sound ok? not sure of my water stats but would the water change have sorted those problems out? i also read about epsom salts to help with popeye but i dont want to add anything to the water without being totally sure.

ok been n got an internal bacteria treatment for him, see how he goes on.

okay i was just coming on to start a post asking why my fishes eye is buldging from his head its kinda scary actually

id heard of popeye, just didnt know what caused it. been using internal bactieria treatment and melafix seems to be going down a bit but i guess itll take time the second treatment goes in tommorrow so hopefully he will be ok, hes the unluckiest fish i know.
