Eco-complete

the eco-complete looks good. i love the stuff. one thing you might want to consider is adding a bunch more plants, especially some fast growing stems. you really want to add as many as you can to avoid the algae monster in new planted tanks.

Do I spy an air-stone in the back ground? Aside from no CO2 additions to the tank (unless I missed you saying you do this?) an air-stone is not going to be good for the plants, as it will drive off any of the minimal CO2 you'll get from fish etc. You'll end up slightly out of balance, having a superb substrate for plants, but you'll lack in the CO2 department.

Hi Nry,

Yup it is an airstone.... I didn't realise it would be a problem. I'm not really bothered if its there or not, just from what i read the aeration would be good for the tank. I wasn't planning on keeping the pump on continuously anyway. Do you think its best to remove it completely?

So i know this is really basic - you mention CO2 additions? Should I be doing that?

Cheers

Dan

CO2....depends on lighting levels to a degree, though I am fairly convinced it has made a significant difference to my 1wpg tank, plants grow much thicker than before I started using it.

Aeration (in my opinion!) is only required in an overstocked tank. The water movement caused by the filter should be more than enough.
