Eclipse 12gal Tank Good For Fowlr

is this tank with no mods (completely stock) can be used as a FOWLR tank. being new to the hobby maybe i should start small and when i get a house go bigger. I want either a royal gamma or goby/ shirmp pair. Or should i just go freshwater, but i really want to do saltwater with this tank of i could.

My first response is bigger is better - much easier to keep stable and more choice, so the smallest i would recommend for a newbie is 125 litres. There are some great second hand bargains out there I know you say that you want a fowlr but i would suggest you look for a tank with t5 lighting, that way if you change your mind and you will, you can keep a good variety of corals as well

Go grab a note book and pen, start reading loads of journels and pinned threads, make loads of notes and ask questions

Start yourself a journel, then everything is in one place and you have a great record of your progress - also great for people coming along after you to read

Patience is a virtue on the salty side and remember, the only stupid question is the one not asked

As steffie said, look for one with T5 lighting. Having marine fish is one thing.. but when you see the corals too... you will get the bug I can virtually guarantee it lol. I know I did

Well I just wanted to get a cheap tank to start with because I don't got hundreds of dollars to spend on corals right now. I just want to get my hands wet for now. I plan on doing corals later on j. The future but that isn't anytime soon because I am still in college and need to focus on my studies. I just would like a fishy lol. When indo get a bigger tank I can use my eclipse for a hospital or to house something else. At first I was going to do fresh water but none of the fish interest me. So what do you guys think?

you cant keep much in a 12 gallon - maybe a shrimp and goby pair they are pretty cool - have a look on buddys thread in the journel section he recently added a video of his
