ive bought two fish from ebay recently.

one was a blue HM male the other a blue marble delta female.

"HM" male came eventualy due to postal strikes, and i was so excited to open the box.. well i was dissapointed to find the fish was poorly packaged, no heat pack, no padding, no wrapping, just the fish in a double bag in a polystrene box wraped in tape. it had been a cold night and i was surrprised he was alive. floated his bag in the tank to let him warm up, and then i see his tail and anal fin were in very poor condition, torn and in early stages of fin rot, which thankfuly i seem to have caught and treated early. he seemed a bit touch and go for the first couple of days he seemed withdrawn and stressed and very very thin. ive had him in a breeding trap in my comunity tank for now until my devided tank gets set up (about to move home so i figured no point setting it up quite yet). after a few days i eventualy see him flare at one of the girls...gess what... NOT a HM!!!! not even a SD!! just a delta! i left a nice bit of negative feed back and will not be buying from this seller again! :grr:

on a better note, the blue marble girl came yesterday and she is a gem! she is exactly as advertised, in perfect condition and perfect finnage! very well packed with shredded newspaper and a heat pack!! i will certinly be keping my eye out for more purchases from this seller :good:

Are you going to the name the seller/s then?! I think you should :D
I'm guessing your seller of the blue marble girl was either Wendy or Mark?

we needs pics of them, shame about the male though, think you should name and shame the bad seller lol, so others can avoid them in future, the female sounds gorgeous

Name and shame please. Its good to know who might be worth using in the future and who to be wary about.

this isnt fair TBH, i made a mistake last week regarding an ebay buy and slammed the seller, i was mislead by someone else and reacted before checking the truth, what im saying is that people shouldnt be shamed on forums, in my post i apologised and set the record straight and recommended the seller, if i had left it and not apologised then this wouldve ruined their reputation on ebay and that wouldnt have been fair for them as i was in the wrong.
and remember the seller will most likely be a member of this forum so beware of the response. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE

its a good idea to praise good sellers but not to shame the bad, negative feedback on ebay is enough to put people off.

I AM NOT saying that you dont have a point about what you are saying abut the condition of betta and packaging YOU DO :good: the good ones should be praised as i never see these ebayers praised on forums at all.

just making my point

a thumbs up to dawcknott :good: awsome little girl, i will ge a pic of her soon, shes gorgeous!

a thumbs down to...... hmm, cant remember the name, and cant find them. i would like to name them so peple can avoid them in future

A fair point. Ebay can be quite complicated and I always try and engage a seller in a discussion about why I believe I should be leaving negative feedback before doing so. I happy to say so I have only had to resort to actually negative feedbacking one person and that was somebody shipping knock-off camera batteries from hong kong!

I have seen a couple of internet sellers praised here recently and I have made a note of who they are and may well use them in the future. I accept that word of mouth (or internet BB postings!) can be hugely influential - its one of the reasons I decided to buy from you. I don't see anything wrong with naming any seller, good or bad, as long as the post is well measured and in the case of ebay everything has been done to try and resolve any potential dispute first.

I'm curious as to whether you had any correspondance with the seller of the fish you are unhappy with blue-betta?

Cheers

Mark

OP
Was your HM from a seller called MTTS2007 by any chance?

"HM" male came eventualy due to postal strikes, and i was so excited to open the box.. well i was dissapointed to find the fish was poorly packaged, no heat pack, no padding, no wrapping, just the fish in a double bag in a polystrene box wraped in tape. it had been a cold night and i was surrprised he was alive.
i bought a 5 girls from a seller on ebay, 2 of them were individual listings for cambo girls, one with blue fins and one with aqua fins. i bid on these and was outbid, he contacted me before the auction ended and told me that the person who had bid on them had asked to retract their bid so did i still want them for my original bid. so of course i said yes and he removed them from ebay and invoiced me for them privately, along with a trio of blue girls i had also bid on. when they arrived i was shocked to see the packaging was very similar to described. 2 cardboard chocolate boxes, lined with polystyrene and with the double bagged fish just fitted in the gap. no heat packs or wrapping etc. but these were the first fish i had bought through the post so i didn't complain.
i did comment to him that i was a bit disappointed with my "cambo" girls who in fact were marbles i think, with just a bit of streaking on the fins (one more so than the other) and with an iridescence over the fins. however i didn't doubt they were the same fish, i just felt he should have been more descriptive in the listing as they were almost colourless in most lights. he was very nice about it and sent me a pack of IAL as an apology, which i really appreciated and thought he was a good seller, until i was looking through his feedback and noticed that a month earlier he had put on 2 listings for cambo girls and had used the same photos, which left me questioning whether i had been deliberately ripped off? :sly: but of course i was never able to leave feedback as he had removed the listing and invoiced externally -_- you live and learn, i think i'm going to stick with buying my fish in person from now on. i've only had good surprises that way (SD who grew up into RT and male PK for £2 as a female!)
If i was looking at them now i would probably expect them to just be irridecence, but at the time i was fairly new to bettas and was just expecting pale pastel colours.
Photo's from the listing!

Its difficult to appreciate from the pictures just how pale they look to the naked eye! completely cellophane except for some dark blue/black streaking on the fins. especially on crystal

yeh i think that was him
can't have been him, no negative feedback left in the last 12 months apparently (i just checked)

i certainly did leave a nice peice of negative feedback for this guy, he must have deleted it. im sure you can delete indavidual feedback, but mabey not.

oh.. just thought id mention... the "HM" in question has since died, i had him only about 4 weeks, his fins never healed and i never saw him flare fully
