Ebay External Filter

that filter will be good for a 40l tank looks like a nice compact filter

Had one on my frog tank to keep that water clean. Unfortunatly the head was too high for it. It is very hard to prime but once it is going it is a great filter for the price.

No real instructions on how to prime.

With any of these cheap knock-off filter, you really need to make sure you look after them properly, as spares will be impossible to come by.

You should buy some silicone grease, or even vaseline for the o-ring (but vaseline will be bad over the long run if the o-ring is made of rubber).

Lubricating the o-ring is very important if you want it to last long.

Another important thing is checking and cleaning the impeller whenever you clean the filter - because if that breaks you cant just buy a new one.

I've been using had a similar knock-off filter (made by resun) for over two years now, and its been great with the proper maintenance.

For that price, you cant really go wrong on a small tank. But on a 40L, you will want another filter too unless it's only lightly stocked (like for shrimp or a few bettas).

I used it on a 25 litre and found it was just the right size. It was OK on a 80l, but I had two other filters running.
