Hey

I am trying to find a nice humane way of selling tropical fish! I am not to keen on selling them on ebay. It just doesn't seem fair to me for some reason!

Was thinking about things like Friday-ad and other adverting papers but what i was worrying about was if they did not sell i may run out of room and put the other fish's life's in jeopardy which is obviously not good at all!

If anyone has had experience or any ideas then please please put them on here so i can do this!

Thanks
Matthew

I wouldnt see any problems with selling them on ebay, aslong as they are collected locally. I wouldnt like to travel more than a few miles with any fish to be honest. Its a shame more people dont do this type of thing, here i only have a pets-at-home store, which is full of desease from experience!, and another small place app 2 miles away - but they only stock a small selection.

The paper ad sounds like a good idea too - but would the cost of advertisement pay off? Not sure what your locals charge, but here its anywhere up to £15

where do you live? Maybe you should post on the buy, sell and swap forum to see what is available

Another idea is if you have small LFS, that is not a chain store, you could ask if you could sell your fish to them. I know when I had a private owned LFS near me, there was a guy who supplied the store with just guppies.

Also you could try Aquabid.com, fish are sold on there all the time and there are many different items on there also besides fish.

You could also check out the Buy, Sell and Swap section of this forum on here. Not sure if that's what your looking for but there are a few different ideas, besides using ebay.

Best of luck! :fish: :fish:

If I sell a fish I usually advertise it on a forum

That way I can stipulate what sort of person it goes to

The other thing that has been playing on my mind it packaging. I know you have ot have insulated boxes etc but for the love of me i cannot find anywhere they sells them!

I will have a look on that aquabid.com cheers for that!

This is my dream to sell fish and animals and i have decided it isnt going to go anywere unless i push towards my goal!

Thanks and anymore help would be much appreciated.

Matt

just had a look at aquabid.com and cant make it out! is it just marine and coldwater?

also is it for the uk ?

Aquabid sells everything, but there are often far more freshwater fish being sold than saltwater. And it's international.

Aquarist Classifieds is one of the biggest, and have found some real bargains on there.

Very Easy to navigate and sell on there.
