hi Guys my 4 angels have started to eat my amazon sword plants. Not sure which angel is doing this or if its all of them anyways does anyone have any idea why they are doing this.

What could I do to stop this from continuing,

They have alsmost eaten a full 15 inch amazon sword plant the other two are not too bad.

help what can I do to stop this from happening.

Thanks

Are you sure it is the angels? They are primarily carnivorous fish... you probably have some herbivores in there that are doing the real damage. Angels prefer to spawn on amazon sword plants as opposed to eating them. :p

what other fish you have in with them?

I dont think there eating them but raher there attacking them and ripping them apart. New World cichlid dislike plants very much maybe you should think about a rocky tank for them, if you dont like rocks or dont think of them to much i could show you tanks with no plants in them and they will make you never want to have another plant again :)

I agree with vip I have a large plastic plant that is in 4 pieces right now cause my JD decided that he wanted to try and move it. it is pretty typical that new worlds will move tank decor to their likeing and not where you like it. though if there is a pleco in there I wouldn't be surprised on that front either.

Not all NW cichlids dislike plants. Discus for example love hiding in them and being around them, as it gives them a sense of security. IME angels like them too; I don't know what's wrong with yours.

Sorry to hijack, but VIP, I want to see some of these tanks. can you send me some pictures. I'm about to get a new tank that may have an oscar in, and want some inspiration for decor!!!

Yes I do have a pleco in there is there anything I can do to stop him from eating the plants.

Thanks

no there isn't really the only option is to take the pleco out they will eat any plant right down to the stub and keep it there if not kill it. plecos are great for eating algae and everything else that is green
