Hi,

I am new to this - my question is when is the best time to add EASYCARBO. My lights are on between 4pm - 10pm daily. I also have bought PROFITO , when should I add this? and is it better to use both. My tank is lightly planted (mainly with vallis at moment - I have heard vallis dont like this?)

Please advice.

Thanks.

vallis is fine with easy carbo providing you dont over dose the maximum recommendation, add easy carbo daily, it doesnt matter what time as it is meant to last 24 hours, i believe profito is just iron and pottasium, you need phosphorous and nitrogen too

Ok.... so can you expand on what product I can buy to supply phosphorus and nitrogen - and are these a must? This is more complicated then I thought, I was under the impression that easycarbo and profito alone would be ample to see some noticeable difference?

i wouldnt say theyre a must without knowing how much light you have over your tank, how deep it is etc.

the other two products are nitro and fosfo

I couldnt provide more information than is in my signature I am afraid (lighting is 2 x 18w - what further information would you require??, as for the depth of the tank its a JUWEL Rio 125 (deepness - 50CM - WATER DEPTH APPROX 40-45cm.)

any floating plants?

i personally think buying TPN+ instead of the separate easy life products would be easier...but i think the nitro and fosfo would be a sound investment

No floating plants.

So would TPN+ be a direct replacement for the two easylife products I have?

But eitherway, I have just bought these, so would like to know what I can do with them and in the best way (Ie when to add them please)

i would follow the instructions for both, TPN+ would not replace easy carbo but would profito, easy carbo is a substitute for carbon dioxide.

i would dose easy carbo daily, and i would follow the instructions for the profito

TPN+ contains all the micros and macros so no other ferts would be needed.
the easy carbo is a carbon source! and is not in TPN+

many seem to say "liquid carbon" products are not good to use with vallis, so i would start at the low end of dosing to be sure!

I understand that I should follow the instructions of the respected products, but as per my OP - WHEN should I dose these. My lights are on between 4pm-10pm daily.

You say TPN would not replace carbo but would profito (but what multiple products would it replace and why would it be easier as its only replaces profito?)

Thanks.

it would replace nitro, fosfo and profito, i would dose them in the morning. before lights on.

its an all in one and will probably be cheaper than dosing a few separate products

TPN has potassium and trace (micros) copper, magnesium, iron, boron etc

TPN+ is the same as TPN but with phospates and nitrates, so is an all in one complete fert.

dose when ever it suits you best, altho personally i would dose before lights on.

Thanks for that. If I said morning is not an option, how about just before (or after lights out at 10pm daily?)

Q: Is it better to add Flourish Excel at night or in the morning based upon plant carbon uptake physiology?
A: Carbon intake is a function of photosynthesis. Based on this, it would be ideal to dose Flourish Excel during the day. But given that Flourish Excel can stay complexed as a carbon source for up to 24 hours before it dissipates, you can dose at any time of the day and the product will be available for the next 24 hours. Flourish Excel is not carbon dioxide and there is no impact on pH using Flourish Excel.

excel is the same as easy carbo i believe.

Sorted I will dose after lights out at 10pm daily (carb), meaning that it has till 9-10pm to use it up next day).

What about for the dosing of the profito WHEN is that best done (is night time acceptable (such as the same times as my carb dose)?)
