I am looking for some small, easy, low-light plants that wont over crowd a 2.5 gal. tank. Anybody know of any?

smaller cryptocorenes, Java ferns, Mosses, various hygrophylla but you will need to prune them regularly. How much light do you have and what is the size of the tank?

I have moderate light comming through my window. The tank is 2.5 gallons, 1 ft long and 6in. wide. It sits on top of my book shelf and the lighting is pretty good, I have one large window, the size of two normal sized windows, and the light that comes through it never touches the tank but brightens up the room pretty well. How do you prune a water plant?

I have Moss, Anubias Bateri var Nana and Java Fern in my 7 gal.

All 3 need to be tied to something but are perfect for a small tank. They don't grow very big and don't need much light.

For trimming plants you just use scissors or pinch the leaves off with your finger nails.

You cant tell or depnd on sun/ day light, you need to know your WPG, you will need about 24w+ to grow plants in a tank that size.

Every plants is pruned different.

Stem plants are cut on the top which produces side shoots lower down for a more bushy effect, if you want them to grow upwards, then uproot them and cut off the bottom.

Rossettes plants, cut off the leaf as close to the rossette as possible.

rhizomes, same as rossettes, anubias you can snap the stems off, dont bury rhizome as it will rot.

Take a look at jimbooo's pinned thread about pruning clicky!
