convicts are easy to breed but you may not find homes for them. also firemouths. im planning on getting firemouths for my 35 gallon

Once they spawn you have a much better chance of getting rid of Kribensis than you do convicks. Kribensis do get very agressive when they prepair to spawn so other fish in the same tank are in danger including other Kribensis. Convicks are hard to stop from breeding.

most fish are very easy to spawn. its just a matter of getting the water and temp right. one fish i would like to breed is the splash tetra! you dont see many of those in the shops.

Because you dont see them often how can you breed them? I would go with convicts and feed the babies to your other fish, or kribs. You can easily sell kribs to your lfs.

i like a challenge. i was just remarking that you don't see many splash tetra's in the shops possibly because of their needs to spawn. they actually spawn out of the water by leaping out together and latching on to an overhead object like a leaf, using their wet outspread fins to hold on for a few seconds so they can lay and fertilize the eggs and fall back in. when this ritual is done they periodically splash the eggs to keep them moist so they don't dry out, hence the name splash tetra! and i thought it was only the fish of the cichlid family that went out of their way to look after and protect their fry!

my LFS always has them in stock as they are so popular - nice easy going fish that have beautiful markings and they're breeding ritual is worth watching.
See if you can get them cos they are worth it

I've never seen splash tetras except for a public aquarium they had them in a huge 750G or something with millions of other tetras. Looked spectacular. Thing is kids put thier fingers on it and all you see is germy fingerprints.

I rarely see rainbows near me. MY friend got about 5 long time ago about 3 hours north of me. Im not travelling 6 hours to get a rainbow cichlid.

Yeah I would go with Rams, Kribs, well pretty much the smaller ones. Rams pack a lot of colour, especially the blues.
