Eastern-asia Themed Aquarium

Hello,
I recently acquired an Eclipse 6 system, and decided to convert it into a little Eastern Asia themed ecosystem. The problem with this is that I am having a very hard time figuring out what type of plants I could use, as most live plants in pet stores are from South America. I have the betta, the Japanese rice fish (Medakas), but not the plants. Does anyone have any suggestions, aside from rice, that they can share? Thanks!

Sorry, don't know which plants (I'm sure some others will), but I have a question for you.

Do you have the betta and the rice fish together? If so, how are they getting along.

Can I have some of these fish in a 10 gal. planted tank with a betta? If so, how many?
