Easiest Sa Cichlid To Breed?

I always found Apistogramma cacatuoides were easy to breed and they are small and peaceful too. But most of the central and south American cichlids are easy to breed. Buy a group of 6-10 fish (or an established pair) and put them in a tank with some water Keep the temperature around 28C and feed them well on meat foods (prawn and fish) several times a day. Have a few flower pots (laying on their side) and some plants and wait. Do a partial water change each day if possible or just a couple of times a week and within a short time they should breed.

Geophagus brasiliensis, Cichlasoma sajica, C. spilurum, C. meeki (firemouth) and C. nigrofasciatum (convict) are all easy to breed in this manor. Blue acaras (Aequidens pulcher) are also easy to breed and so are keyhole cichlids (A. maronii).

Definetly convicts! I tried alsorts to stop mine breeding but they wouldnt and nobody wanted them so I boght a red snake head just to get rid of them
they made good feeder fish when they were grown on a bit but that was a few years ago now. and them convicts and my snake head are long gone but once bitten twice shy and thats why I only have the one convict in my tank now.

Why do people keep saying convicts, they are CA cichlids.

I would say the easiest and most hassle free SA cichlid to breed would be Herotilapia multispinosa the "Rainbow Cichlid". Angels and Oscars are quite easy to get spawning but often eat their eggs or fry.

only had 1 pair and they are firemouths

BUT.....

they bred when i was moving stuff in my tank constantly so they arn't too bothered and breed easily

Angels are mega easy...same thing as convicts..get 5,let them pair off,sell the other pair for loads of money and give the surplus one away..then the 2 you keep wil breed like crazy to the point its a nuisance.

Most Cichlids are easy,espec. Africans!

I usually find angels will pair and spawn easily but raising the fry is quite a challenge.
