Earthworm Question

I was wondering about earthworms. First off does anyone know if WalMart sells earthworms year round gonna go check this weekend but thought maybe you guys would know. Also is it ok to feed fish earthworms that are sold at WalMart and places like that which are sold as bait. I know they probaly use chemiclas and stuff like that when breeding them, just wondering if there ok to feed my fish. Seeing how its winter time now I can't really go out now and dig any up. Also were do you guys get your earthworms (the people that feed there fish them) I have a tiretrack eel so I'm going to treat him to something new!

what i do is put a bit of tarpauling in the garden under the trees n quite soon i found 40 earthworms and woodlice alike which all has been eaten by my oscars

That is one fat earthworm!!!
I believe (but don't quote me) that bait shop earthworms are fine to use, just rinse them really well. Fishers use them for lake fish to eat and then said fish gets eaten by fisher, so they can't be all that bad, right?!?
