It's a Ropefish!

Beleive it or not, they're really cute things. If you have two or more, they'll cuddle up in a hole somewhere. They come out usually at night, boot around and don't bother anybody. Low maintenence, eat frozen bloodworms, shrimp pellets, and apparently smaller fish - though my guy refused to eat the feeder minnows I put in the tank for him, so now I have a bunch of fat minnows I didn't really want.

If you want an unusual addtition to your tank - and you don't keep neons, I suggest doing some research and picking one or two up!

(Watch out - they can crawl out of the tank!)

They crawl up that is so cool.............how many gallons are in they in?

It's cool - unless they make it!

These guys are all in my 55gal. You could have a couple of ropefish in a 20, as they don't get that large. (10 inches?) but don't forget, they're slim.

Here's another angle of my tank to give you an idea of how much personal space everyone has. I know I'm mixing fish that would not normally mix in the wild, but as I don't purchase "wild" fish, I figure they don't know the difference, as long as we all get along!

I have 3 Angels (the 2 large ones and 1 small koi who's trying desparately to be accepted by the bigger guys)

2 Lovely swordtails - one preggies..I think.

1 Ropefish - shall get him a mate next week.

about 6 minnows.

All in a 55gall.

(I have another 20 gall. tank too)

Not sure about Oscars. I've had bad experiences with them, but every fish has it's own personality, so if you feel yours are somewhat 'chilled', then they may be ok. Ropefish are quite timid, though tend to freak out other fish when they're first introduced (for good reason).
Anybody else have any ideas about mixing oscars with these guys?

(As for the nomination, thanks, but I'll decline. There are plenty of better pics that deserve that.)
