Hi All,

I purchased 4 Bamboo Shrimpo from my LFS roughly three weeks ago. I acclimatised them to the tank the same way that I would a fish. For a couple of days they all seemed fine. Then one of them I found laying dead at the bottom of the tank one morning. I did not worry too much and just putit down to being stressed from being moved form the LFS to my Tank etc. Then yesterday I found two more dead. I did water tests with the following results:

Ammonia = 0
P.H = 7.2
Nitrate = 10, it always is, I can never seem to get it to stay at 0 for very long, but it never goes above 10.
Nitrite at 0

The shrimp had plenty of hiding places and seemed to attach themselves to the filter outlet pipe for most of the time, which they would being filter feeders, of course. All the other fish, Neons, Glass cats, Kulhi Loach and Sterbai Corys and my four Algae shrimp seem to be fine and are not showing signs of illness or anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Richard.

How old is your tank? Being as they're filter feeders, are you sure they're getting enough food?
Unfortunately, beautiful though they are, they're tricky to keep, for that reason...

Hi,

I have crushed up some flake and mixed with a little water to make a fine soup and injected near to where they hang out in the tank. There little fans went berzerk and they are always in front in the filter outlet. Should I carry on with the crushed food soup and see if that makes a difference?

Richard

How big is your tank? It's possible they aren't getting fed enough, although they can resort to just picking up food off the floor like other shrimp.

And how about the temperature? I know they can't take cold temperatures very well.
