Had my aquarium nearly two years now. i have lost the odd fish in the past as everyone does. Last weekend i added some neons and glowlights-6 of each. i had already in the tank 2 plecs,4 female fighters,1 small clown loach and two red tailed sharks. All been together for 5 or 6 months no probs. All the neons died within 2 days, the glowlights have been fine but now all my fighters have died but before each one died it grew large patches of white sometimes even covering its eyes. i treated with anti fungal but they are dead now. the sharks, plecs, clown loach and glowlight appear to be fine. checked all the levels-all spot on as usual. obviously since ive made plenty of water changes. it must be a disease brought in by the fish but id like to know what it is if anyone can help

Might have been ich, im not an expert myself.. mostlikely came from the new fish, bad luck im afraid. Post in the discussion or emergency areas for more replies and helpful ideas.. id try emergency incase its something that may yet to have effected ur fish but still could.

sorry for the loss and good luck

could of been ich it takes hold very quickly
are your fish flicking on the substrate, plants or any thing else? small white dots on any on the fins or body.

ive had ich once before again when new fish added. totally different symptoms. it was almost like dry skin on the fish and once they had it were dead within a couple of hours.

wierd.. im not an expert on that so like i said many more answers will come out of the emergency section.

excess mucous is normally brought about by poor water quality. Have you actually tested the water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & PH?
If they are OK then I would say something along the lines of chilodonella or trichondina and they can be treated with Protozin.

Can you post your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
How many gallons is the tank.
Were the big white patches fluffy in appearance.
The neons that died did the red stripe area look bleached out.
Did the white patches go along the back and down the sides to form a saddle shape.

the tank is 120 litres. my test results were NO2-0.3mg/l, NH3 + NH4-0.25 mg/l, and NO3 approx 12.5 mg/l. PH level 7.5-8.0. ive looked at that post and it doesnt look the same. the rest of my fish are still alive and well, feeding ok and are active. temp is about 25 degrees c. ive got extra aeriation going due to the fungal treatment. ive not lost a fish now for a few days but all the ones i lost were the same kinda breed plus few others. keeping a beedy eye on them tho. thanks for all your help

Is your test kit in date? if so it sounds bacterial or fungal could always be brought on by stress eg being moved then being put in a tank with 2 R/T sharks.( clown loach should never be kept in one`s).
