I have just been to Lynwood Fish house in Surrey and they were just unloading their fish delivery and had a Tank full of Glass Fish (Dyed Blue and Red, If I remember Correctly) I know that they are sometimes just sent as a replacement for unavailable species and most places I hope don't choose to stock them, but cannot believe people would wan't to by dyed fish??

It's not like being imported is stressful enough, but then to buy ones that have been injected with Dye is just stupid isn't it??

Sorry Just shocked that they are still available in the Uk fish houses!

I dont agree with it either and they don't live long through being dyed.

Someone on here commented once that the size needle they use to inject dye into those fish would be like somebody puncturing us with a pencil! -_- I can't believe ANYone would buy a dyed fish, but then people buy those fakey looking pink and blue dyed carnations too. Sigh............I like the white skirt tetras in their own natural silvery white, not fakey pink and blue.....I'd like to rescue them but then the store would be encouraged to stock more of them. Grrrrrrrrr. :grr:

I saw a tv show the other day where they were modifying a car and stuck an aquarium in it! It was sealed tight, not big enough for the 2 goldfish in it and you could feed them through a tube into the tank but I'm thinking POOR FISH! I doubt they survived long. :-(

But then, as a society, we humans seem to be all into everything from tattooing ourselves to dyeing our hair(I just dyed mine :p ) to plastic surgery. Does anybody accept ANYthing natural anymore? It makes ya wonder.

Well I'm against it too but I can see why people would buy them. If you are not informed on the matter you may think it's their natural color. Fish do come in so many colors and I suppose people think they look pretty and would look good in their tank. Kids often persuade their parents to get them fish and the bright colors would attract them to dyed fish. Then there's unsuspecting newbies who might be persuaded to get some without knowing about their background.

As for humans no longer letting stuff be natural, we are part of nature ourselves so, theoreticaly, everything we do is natural :p

A LPS near me had Christmas tetras.....widow tetras died red and green

They also had a package deal where ya get a crappy filter...a small tank and gravel for a ridiculously high priced and received "4 Christmas tetras for free"

SAD.....

I used to go in there to buy dog stuff....they have awesome dog toys....

Not anymore...the espensive place around the corner can get my money

It's sad... Luckilly, I haven't seen any dyed fish at the shops I go to. However... as for a human version, step forward Micheal Jackson! So, Michael, what do you have to say about dyeing fish... and people for that matter? I mean, do you want to be black or white? "That ain't funny, Martin. That's just ignorance. I'm a real boy! I'm a real boy! Ooh, feel the burn, I'm bad!"
Sorry... couldn't resist :p But dyed fish are wrong. If people want a cheap but pretty fish, look no further than the humble Platy. Much longer-lived than the dyed ones, too.

Would that be Pimp My Ride?
Cos I saw that one.. I loved the idea of the aquarium, but I sat there ranting for hours because of the fact that there were two goldfish in it and that it was sooo teeny.
At which point my boyfriend told me to let it go, because I couldn't do anything about it. ..Grr.
I was tempted to email PMR about it, but had no idea how.
